Reading Projects

Warm Up with Cool Books and Go WILD for Reading!

We conduct these annual projects during Winter and Spring breaks. AmeriCorps Members use stories, crafts, games, songs, and take-home activities to encourage kids to keep on reading even when school's not in session. Designed and led by AmeriCorps members, these enrichment activities always rock!

You may also send us an email if you'd like to know how you can volunteer, support the project, or have any questions!

"I Love to Read" Poster Contest

In this annual project, one finalist every spring is picked from each of six local libraries to have their poster displayed for everyone to see! All other artwork is donated to cheer the hearts of senior citizens when they are delivered to local assisted-living and retirement facilities.

The GRAND PRIZE winner will receive a BRAND NEW BIKE (courtesy of the Chinook Bicycle Club and Scott's Cycle & Sports) and helmet (courtesy of Kadlec Regional Medical Center)! Runners-up receive a bundle of books, art supplies, & more!

A special thanks goes to our sustaining co-sponsors:

Scott's Cycle & Sports, Chinook Cycling Club, and the Kiwanis Club of the Columbia.

Summer Safety Fun Fair

This annual project, created by Corps Members to address safety needs in the community, is put on jointly with the Boys & Girls Club each year. Particpants learn about bicycle safety and other summer safety tips. There are also games, arts and crafts, music performances, special booths, and much more.

The first 200 children to come to the event will recieve a BRAND NEW, FREE BIKE HELMET courtesy of Kadlec Regional Medical Center!
