Today in America, one in five children still lives in poverty, high school dropout rates persist, and the rungs of the ladder to economic mobility are shaky, at best. America’s challenges are real and urgent.

We need all Americans – especially those who have proven themselves to be citizen leaders – to get involved in changing lives and communities. And we need them now.

That’s why you will find our Alumni continue to do the heavy lifting long after they’ve graduated our program. As a result of building pathways and pipelines with professional and leadership development, Serve Tri-Cities graduates include:

  • Lawyers
  • Doctors
  • Teachers
  • Clergy
  • Counselors
  • Para-professionals
  • Coaches
  • Non-profit founders and directors
  • Program and project specialists
  • Motivational speakers

AmeriCorps alumni can be an excellent resource. Often it is personal connections that help you can get your foot in the door.  You can put your AmeriCorps experience to good use in your career—and your service may give you direct help in being considered for some federal positions.

Also, many choose to join the AmeriCorps Alums national network convening the nearly 1 millions persons who have served in AmeriCorps national service programs. AmeriCorps Alums has been an enterprise of Points of Light dedicated to building a community of experienced volunteer leaders committed to a lifetime of service. Alums are encouraged to fully realize their potential by building connections and engaging with others to create transformational change in their communities.

Potential employers recognize the value of AmeriCorps service. Though your service is not considered employment, the experience you develop through service shows your ability to handle tough tasks, your commitment to seeing things through, and your dedication to working on challenging issues.  In fact, hundreds of employers have committed to recruiting alumni like you through the Employers of National Service initiative (click here for more information and a list of participating employers).
